News Break: Advocacy works! Hoosier National Forest Protected from Logging!
Did you hear? A lawsuit brought by fellow environmental advocacy groups in Central Indiana recently won against the National Forest Service, stopping the NFS’s illegal logging on the Hoosier National Forest.
Many Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter members supported these advocacy groups in their efforts to stop the illegal logging by writing letters, calling elected officials, and participating in demonstrations.
All you ever needed to know about invasive plant species
The Winding Waters Group welcomes invasive species phenom Dawn Slack for our November program at the library. If you’ve never heard her speak, you are missing out!! If you have heard her speak, please come back for more!
Dawn is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about native and invasive species in Indiana, and her contagious passion will light your fire.
Looking for even more? Check out other hikes in the area not sponsored by the Sierra Club.

Member Spotlight: Bob Borella
Greetings! I'm Bob Borella. My wife and I recently moved to Columbus to be near our daughter and six-year old grandson.
I'm a long-time national Sierra Club member, and a state chapter member in both Vermont and Utah.
My personal passion is wilderness protection, and I spend as much time as possible hiking and exploring backcountry areas in Utah, learning about the Ancestral Puebloan cultures that once thrived in these lands.
Since moving here last November, I've attended many Winding Waters meetings and presentations, and I hope to volunteer on some committees moving forward.
My previous impression of Indiana came only from our many trips to Columbus driving on I-70 and I-65, but after the past year hiking around the state, visiting the many parks, and learning from the Winding Waters Group, I know there is much more to see, explore, and protect!
I would urge more of our members to attend the monthly WWG presentations. Great people, great talks, and great fun!
Could you be our next Winding Waters Group Executive Committee member?
Do you have a love of the outdoors, a strong commitment to equity and justice, and a passion to fight climate change to protect the environment in Indiana? The Winding Waters Group of the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter is looking for three volunteers to serve on the Executive Committee that do!
