Spring into Earth Month — your April calendar is here

Last year we dubbed our Earth Month activities The Great Invitation. This year we are inviting you to lean in a little deeper and Grow with Us.

Grow with Us is inspired by volunteer leaders who have spent the last year stepping up to answer the call to become Outings Leaders, join committees, speak on behalf of the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter at the Statehouse, and penning resolutions and blog posts about issues that matter to Hoosiers.

You’ll find us this month from Lake Michigan to the Ohio River.

We are extending this invitation in dozens of communities. We’ll be…

🌎 at events from the Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration in Valpo, down to Earth Day at Wesselman Woods in Evansville.

🌸 on your favorite trails in south central Indiana for a spring series of wildflower hikes with our Winding Waters Group and Uplands Network.

🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 at Heartlands Group meet-ups in Hamilton and Boone Counties

♻️ in West Lafayette spending a day with the Purdue Student Sustainability Council and our friends from the Indiana Beyond Coal Campaign

📽️ in Jasper for DMMC Earth Day, back up to Bloomington for a Saturday at Switchyard Park, down to New Harmony for a screening of Reinventing Power with our Southwest Indiana Network, and up in Allen County for Earth Day in Fort Wayne…

At last count we had nearly 50 events and counting on the calendar!

This isn’t something we can do without you. Members and volunteer leaders like you make it possible for the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter to be in seven communities across the state on the same day. Thank you for showing up and for leaning in and for helping us share the work our community is doing across Indiana to enjoy, explore, and protect the wild places of this earth.

We hope if you’re just arriving here or finding your way back to this work you take this month to sign up for our Summer Outings Leader Cohort, one of our Volunteer Tabling Trainings, show up to your local Group or Network’s next event, join us on the trail at one of our Outings across the state, or join the wonderful discussion at our next monthly Book Club. Register for all these and more at sc.org/hcevents.

We look forward to seeing you.

In gratitude,

Colleen Curtin
