Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, Sierra Club is the oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization.

Inspired by nature, we are your Central Iowa friends and neighbors, working together to protect our community and the planet. The Central Iowa Group serves 23 counties - Polk, Dallas, Guthrie, Jasper, Poweshiek, Mahaska, Marion, Warren, Madison, Adair, Clarke, Lucas, Monroe, Decatur, Wayne, Union, Ringgold, Appanoose, Story, Boone, Marshall. We welcome all residents of these counties to participate in our activities and events. Activities and events are designed to promote the mission of the Sierra Club - Explore, Enjoy, Protect the Planet. We have a variety of activities from films to outings to speakers to volunteering at events.
