Trail head parking is often limited so, where possible, consider car pooling there.
Car pools are loosely organized. If you are new to us or just want to try us out, send a message to the hike leader using the contact information for that hike on the activity calendar and find out if it is better to meet at the trail head or which car pool location would best suit you. At designated car pool locations, look for a group of people milling around who will admit to being Singleaires Hikers! Usually, hike descriptions include suggested car pool location(s) along with the time the car pools leave.
All car pool times listed in a hike description are departure times. Please arrive at least 5 minutes earlier to join a car pool.
All of the Singleaires hikes and trips begin and end at the trail head. Participants may meet at any suggested carpool location and then make their own arrangements regarding who drives, etc. Generally a hike leader will be present at a designated carpool location. This is often announced in the hike description and is usually the closest one to the hiking trail head. Note that it's the hike leader's option whether or not to be present at a carpool lot.
If you arrive at a car pool location and you can't find anybody who will admit to being a Singleaires Hiker, don't despair, leave on time for the trail head and meet us there instead.
Some Considerations for Carpools
Activity participants should remain at any car pool location until the designated time to leave. You will likely miss a ride if you are late. The Sierra Club and the Singleaires assumes no liability for any car pool arrangements.
Carpooling, ride sharing or anything similar is strictly a private arrangement among the participants who assume the risks and liabilities associated with any travel arrangement.
To cover driver’s expenses, it is suggested that riders contribute 10 cents per mile to the driver. Other circumstances, such as tolls and parking fees at the trail head, etc, may affect the costs and this should be discussed and agreed upon before leaving.
Locations
We use a variety of types of location, including official Park & Ride lots and Shopping Center lots. 511.org has useful information about Park & Ride lots.
Each location listed below includes GPS coordinates, street address, and a link to a Google map page. The street address isn't necessarily the lot but will usually get you close enough to spot it.
For Google map customized driving directions and times, click on the appropriate map link below, then click on the "Directions" symbol in the upper left panel. Choose your starting point as instructed. The car pool location will already be filled in as your destination. You will see an overlay route on the map. By clicking "Details" in the left hand panel, turn-by-turn driving directions can be viewed. Often Google will offer more than one route with the first one being the quickest.
Note: the above instructions are for Google maps on Windows PCs and will vary for smartphone apps. Additionally, Google frequently changes the layout of its map buttons etc, so the above is not guaranteed to be 100% correct.

Fremont
The Park & Ride lot is on the southeast side of I-680 and Mission Boulevard. Directions: From I-680N take the Mission Boulevard/CA-238 exit. At the lights at the end of the exit ramp go straight onto Mission Rd. In 200ft, take a L into the Park & Ride lot. Los Gatos
From CA-17 S take the Saratoga (CA-9) W exit. Bear right and go past the first traffic light (at University Ave). Turn right at the first driveway into the North Side Municipal Parking Lot. Note - this lot is on the right in the middle of the block past University St, but before N Santa Cruz Ave. While on Saratoga Los Gatos Rd this is first driveway before the Chase Bank at 400 N Santa Cruz. Crossroads Shop Center at Calaveras Blvd. & N Hillview Dr. Directions: From I-880, take CA-237 East using Exit 8B This puts you on Calaveras Blvd heading East. Turn left at N. Hillview (one block before I-680). First left into the parking lot. From I-680, take CA-237 West using Exit 8. This puts you on Calaveras Blvd heading West. Right at first stop light onto N. Palo Alto
The Park & Ride lot is on the southwest side of I-280 and Page Mill Road overpass. It's very near the overpass, at the intersection of Page Mill and Arastradero Rd. Directions: From I-280 N take the Page Mill Rd exit. Bear left as you approach Page Mill Rd. Turn left at the stop sign, heading West under I-280. Continue to the stop sign, bearing left. Left turn on to Arastradero Rd. (towards parking lot). Take an immediate right into the car pool lot. From I-280 South take the Page Mill Rd exit. From I-280 N, Take Hwy CA-92 San Mateo/Hayward exit (Exit 33 EAST), exit using right lane. Take your first exit: "Ralston Ave". Bear right and N across overpass where road turns into Polhemus Rd. Make a U-Turn at the first stop light or opportunity, go back S across the overpass, then immediately turn right into the parking lot. San Mateo II
This dirt shoulder lot is located just off CA-92, about a quarter mile west of I-280 on CA-92, to the right of the second stop light after exiting I-280. Directions: From Hwy I-280 N, Take the Half Moon Bay exit (Exit 33 WEST), exit using the Half Moon Bay lane (left lane of the exit) Continue, passing West over I-280. Turn right at the second stop light (Sky Line Blvd., CA-35) Immediately enter the dirt parking area on the right at the light. Note -- we don't have a street address for this lot. South San Jose
Directions: From CA-85 S, take the Cottle Road exit. At lights at end of exit ramp, go straight at lights to enter Park & Ride lot. From US-101 S, take the Monterey Rd/Blossom Hill Rd exit. At end of exit ramp, turn R at lights onto Blossom Hill Rd. After 0.7 miles, turn L onto Beswick Dr., then after 0.5 miles, turn R onto Cottle Rd. Woodside 280
Park & Ride Lot is on the South West side of I-280 and CA-84 (Woodside road exit.) Directions: From I-280 North, south of Woodside, take the Woodside Rd exit. Bear left as you approach Woodside Rd. Turn left at the stop sign, heading West under I-280. Continue to the first light, bearing left past the light take an immediate left into the car pool parking lot. From I-280 South Bound, North of Woodside. Take the Woodside Rd exit. Continue on the off ramp, bearing right at the light. Turn right at the light on Woodside Rd heading West. Woodside Pioneer Hotel
From I-280 North Bound, South of Woodside Take Woodside Rd Exit 25. Turn left at the stop sign, going under I-280 headed west. From I-280 South Bound, North of Woodside Take Woodside Rd Exit 25. From either direction continue about 1 mile West on Woodside Rd to just before the Pioneer Hotel. Turn left on to Whiskey Hill Rd. Immediate right into Pioneer hotel parking lot. Use the lot on the left, furthest away from the hotel. If you pass the Pioneer Hotel (while still on Woodside Rd) take an immediate left into hotel parking lot and continue towards the furthest lot where we usually meet.
