Bridal Veil Falls Hike - Tuesday, Feb. 4

Waterfall hike in beautiful Dupont State Recreational Forest! 

Join us Tuesday, Feb. 4 for a hike to beautiful Bridal Veil Falls in Dupont State Recreational Forest!

We will begin this easy to moderate hike at the Dupont State Recreational Forest Visitor Center. The center will be open to check out and there are restrooms available there. From the Visitor Center, we will follow Buck Forest Road, crossing the beautiful, covered bridge above Triple Falls. Then we will take a right on Conservation Road, visit Lake Julia on the way, and arrive at the base of beautiful Bridal Veil Falls.

The hike involves walking on gravel roads and trails for about 5 miles round trip, with around 250 feet of elevation gain. We will stop to enjoy the falls and have lunch before returning to the visitor center by around 3:30 p.m. Along the way we will learn a bit about the history, ecology, and geology of Dupont and a bit about water quality.

Be sure to bring plenty of clothing layers, lunch/snacks, and water. Rain gear is always a good idea regardless of the forecast. 

We will have two meeting spots you can choose from on Tuesday 2/4:

  • At 10:30 a.m., folks can meet in west Asheville at 151 Smokey Park Highway, in the parking lot directly behind Chick-Fil-A, near Ingles. We will sort out carpooling and then drive about 50 minutes to the Dupont State Recreational Forest Visitor Center.
  • If anyone wants to meet us at the trailhead at 11:30 a.m., you can drive to the Dupont State Recreational Forest Visitor Center at 89 Buck Forest Road, Cedar Mountain , NC 28718. (You can follow the link for directions). Meet us on the porch of the visitor center at 11:30.

If anyone is experiencing COVID symptoms, is still in quarantine after testing positive for COVID, is feeling sick, and/or has a fever, they should not attend this outing. Families are welcome! Any children should be accompanied and supervised by parents or other adult family members.
