Hike to a magnificent free falling waterfall in Pisgah National Forest!
Join us for this lovely outing on Tuesday, Nov. 18 near Brevard. Once we arrive at trailhead parking, after introductions and a brief overview, the group will then hike .7 miles up the trail to Moore’s Cove Falls.
The trail is well maintained with an elevation gain of only 154 feet to get to the falls. We will take about an hour to reach the falls, stopping to admire the stream and forest views. We will learn a bit about stream ecology and water quality as well as Pisgah National Forest. We will spend about 30-45 minutes at the falls.
We will meet at 9:30 a.m. in West Asheville and carpool, or if you prefer, you can meet us at a location near the trailhead at 10:15 a.m. Do the two things below to sign up for this hike:
1. Follow this link to register for the hike.
2. Contact Outings Leader Ed Maggart at edmaggart@gmail.com or 828-713-0541 to let him know you want to attend. He'll give you the meeting locations in West Asheville or near the trailhead so you can choose which place you want to meet the group.
Note that we are limiting this hike to 12 hikers.
Be sure to bring water and snacks. Check the forecast and dress appropriately. We will plan to return at an easy pace back to the parking area by 2:30 p.m.
