Warren Wilson College is just outside of Asheville and has a wonderful trail system which is open to the public. On Wednesday, Feb. 11, we will do a hike there that will take us through scenic woods and along a beautiful stream. We will do around 3 miles, but depending on the wishes of the group we could do a bit more or less. The hike is easy with only about 200 feet of elevation gain. We will be stopping for lunch along the stream at a place we choose.
Since this is so close to town, we will all meet at the trailhead at 10 a.m. We will be back to the parking lot by 2 p.m. It’s only about 20 minutes from Asheville just off I-40 between Asheville and Black Mountain. There are several sites to begin hiking on the trail system. When you email or text to sign up with Ed Maggart (the hike leader) will let you know where to meet the group!
If anyone, is feeling sick, and/or has a fever, they should not attend this outing. Families are welcome! Any children should be accompanied and supervised by parents or other adult family members.
Be sure to bring lunch/snacks, water, extra layers, and rain gear is always a good idea regardless of the forecast!! Please no dogs on this hike.
To register for the hike please do two things:
- Register on the Sierra Club Campfire website using this link: Warren Wilson Berea Trails Hike
- Email hike leader Ed Maggart at edmaggart@gmail.com or text at 828-713-0541 to sign up or ask any questions. When you contact Ed, he'll let you know where to meet and answer any other questions you have.
