John Rock Loop Hike - Tuesday, March 31

Hike in Pisgah National Forest and climb John Rock Trail to a stunning vista!

This hike takes you past a beautiful waterfall and through forests ranging from cove hardwoods to groves of hemlock and white pine rhododendron and mountain laurel and in higher elevations mixed hardwoods. After some climbing, we will reach the outlook on the top of John Rock, which will give us spectacular views of the forest below, Looking Glass Rock across the valley, and up to the ridgetop where the Blue Ridge Parkway is found.

This is a moderately difficult hike with total distance of about 4.5 miles and a total elevation gain of about 1000 ft. I plan to be back to the parking lot around 2:30 pm. We will limit the group to 12 hikers. Please join us!

If anyone is feeling sick, and/or has a fever, they should not attend this outing. Families are welcome! Any children should be accompanied and supervised by parents or other adult family members. Dogs will not be allowed on this hike.
