Join us for a wonderful hike along a beautiful stream to Twin Falls.
Twin Falls is a pair of waterfalls that converge at the base to form Avery Creek. The moderate out and back trail will take us 2 miles along Avery Creek through beautiful woods. We'll pass two other waterfalls before reaching Twin Falls! We'll have lunch with a view of the two falls, and then hike back the 2 miles to the parking area.
We will plan to be at the trailhead to start hiking about 10:30 a.m. It will be about a moderate 4-hour hike to the twin falls and back, including some time for lunch at the falls. The 4 miles of hiking is on a trail is well-maintained with an elevation gain of 500 feet.
Along the way we will learn a bit about the history, ecology, and geology of Pisgah National Forest. Be sure to bring snacks or lunch, and water. Some folks may like trekking poles. Rain gear is always a good idea regardless of the forecast.
If anyone is feeling sick, and/or has a fever, they should not attend this outing. Families are welcome! Any children should be accompanied and supervised by parents or other adult family members. Dogs will not be allowed on this hike.
