What's happening: Buncombe County will be conducting their first ever Transit Plan in 2027. 

Why it matters: Buncombe County has limited public transit services. We know that effective public transit systems are key to environmental sustainability and economic mobility. Increased County investment could bolster the whole regional transit system and provide many community benefits. We want to raise our voices to share why we think transit is important and encourage the County to prioritize it!  

What you can do: 

If you live outside Asheville in Buncombe County and you want to see more public transit, here's what you can do:

• Email the Buncombe County Commissioners sharing why you value public transit and/or how you would use expanded public transit if it were available. (You can write an email to all Commissioners at this link.)
• Stay tuned for future engagement opportunities as the planning process gets underway. You can send your email address to edmaggart@gmail.com if you want to be added to get more information as opportunities arise!
• Talk to your friends and neighbors about public transit and encourage them to get involved in the planning process.

Please note that this is not for residents of Asheville, but for those who live outside Asheville in Buncombe County.
