The Sierra Club is proud to endorse Lindsay Drew, Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania House District 106, in the upcoming General Election on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020.
Lindsay, a self-employed small business owner, is dedicated to protecting the environment for the children today and for future generations.
While campaigning, Lindsay became concerned about the quality of the district’s air and water. She learned that some families had to strain and boil their drinking water. While Lindsay knows poor air quality is an issue for everyone in the state, it is especially for the elderly, the very young, and those with compromised respiratory systems.
With over 55,000 cars traveling to Harrisburg each day, the surrounding area has an air pollution problem. To help improve air quality, Lindsay proposes broadening the public transportation system and investing in smart solutions for our roadways. She believes that by pursuing environmentally-conscious infrastructure projects, we can solve the air quality problem and also combat climate change, while creating hundreds of new jobs as part of America’s 21st century green economy.

Lindsay has strong name recognition, having defeated a Republican for Derry School Director by pulling in the highest vote total of all candidates. People who remember the 106th are remembering a district that no longer exists, Lindsay says. Like many suburban districts in Pennsylvania, her district is trending blue. She plans to help move the district even further in that direction.
If elected, Lindsay will fight to ensure all students in Pennsylvania receive a world class education regardless of their zip code, to raise the minimum wage to $15, and to make sure all workers are protected by paid sick leave. She also supports ending gerrymandering through an amendment to the state constitution to require districts to be drawn by an independent redistricting commission.
Further, Lindsay knows we need to address systemic racism as it relates to education, healthcare, and the justice system. She believes it is not enough to just be aware of the problems of our society, we need to do something about it. State government must do its part by enacting meaningful, policy-based, changes in its laws.
We strongly encourage all Sierra Club members, their friends, neighbors and relatives to support Lindsay’s campaign with your time, talents and money. The only way we can get good candidates elected is to dedicate some of our time and hard work to supporting their efforts.
