Maintaining Healthy Watersheds in Middle Tennessee

Development in Tennessee has disrupted ecosystems, damaging forests, fields, and tree canopies.  The Tennessee Environmental Council continues to work aggressively to combat these negative impacts.

TEC is one of the state’s most impactful environmental organizations, leading the way with Tennessee Tree Day, creek and litter cleanups, recycling roundups and many other programs. Join Jordan Young, TEC director of field operations, to learn about TEC’s efforts to maintain healthy watersheds using sustainable streambank stabilization methods to combat erosion, planting native vegetation, and reducing stormwater runoff. Hear how you can volunteer and support this important work!

Jordan recently graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in geology and environmental sustainability and technology.  His lifelong passion for the outdoors and interest in environmental sustainability is what drove him back to school after working in residential construction. His hobbies include mountain biking, fishing, backpacking and kayaking. He was drawn to TEC because of this organization's dedication to making a positive impact on the environment.
