Bay Area Sierra Club Meeting: How to Take Better Photos

Bay Area Sierra Club Meeting: How to Take Better Photos
Wednesday, November 21
Bay Area Community Center in Clear Lake Park
5002 NASA Parkway, 77586

Bay Area meetings are on 3rd Wednesday of the month, and start at 6:30pm for social hour; speaker and discussion from 7-8:30 pm.

November Meeting Program:

This meeting of the Bay Area Sierra Club will feature a slideshow that will help you take more interesting photos of all of your holiday guests, of all of the flowers you receive, etc.! Local Member Peter Bowman will teach four techniques that he learned from his famous Vietnamese teacher Do Anh Tuan.

Mr Do Anh Tuan took photos of a Vietnamese minority group living in the mountains while Peter himself took photos of various landscapes in Vietnam. Also Peter took photos of flowers in the famous Butchart gardens near Victoria, British Columbia. These photos exemplify the four techniques.

At the end of the lesson, attendees themselves get a chance to identify these four techniques in photos which Peter will show without comment.

Peter joined the Galveston Sierra Club in 1975 when he came to Galveston following his wife. Of all the interesting activities there, the jobless Peter found the Sierra Club the most interesting. He soon accepted the Chairmanship and started the Galveston County Toxic Waste Task Force.

In about 1980, he joined the Lone Star Chapter (Texas) Executive Committee as Toxic Waste Coordinator. In 1985-86, he served as the Chapter Chair before resigning the next year to teach Environmental Management and direct the Center for Conflict Analysis and Management at UH Clear Lake. He retired in 2005.

Updates for November 21 will be posted at our Meetup site:
