Houston Sierra Club Elects New Executive Committee for 2019 and Stork Assists With Two Newest Sierra Club Members

In December 2018, Houston Sierra Club members voted for the first time online, via the Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club, for new Executive Committee (Ex. Com.) members.  The Houston Regional Group of the Sierra Club’s Ex. Com. oversees the operations, committees, general meetings, budget, fundraising, appoints committee chairs and committees, and coordinates the events calendar for the Houston Sierra Club.  The Ex. Com. is the official decision-making body for the Houston Sierra Club.

The five Sierra Club members who won election for 2-year terms on the Ex. Com. include:  Jennie Rohrer, Michael Honel, Meredith Jennings, Melanie Oldham, and Collen Neely.  These five new Ex. Com. members join current Ex. Com. members Kristen Schlemmer, Lorraine Gibson, Arjumand Mubaarak, and Brandt Mannchen who were elected in 2018.  Thanks to everyone who ran and for all who voted.

In addition, we now have two new, special, members of the Houston Sierra Club.  In December 2018 and January 2019, with assistance from the stork, Kristen Schlemmer delivered a baby girl, Leonor Sara Schlemmer Valdez and Meredith Jennings delivered a baby boy, Miles Jennings.  Congratulations to both our Ex. Com. “Moms”, their husbands, families, and friends and our best wishes for a safe recovery for all.  We expect great things from both of our new Sierra Club members.
