Houston Sierra Club and COVID-19 Update

In early June the Sierra Club extended its current COVID-19 operational response through Monday, August 31st. This means that all Outings and in-person meetings will remain on hold until that date.  An update on Outings, etc. beyond August 31 is expected from the National Sierra Club sometime in mid August.

In response to the ongoing pandemic, the Houston Group is planning to start conducting online monthly program meetings, probably via Zoom, and hopefully beginning in August.

And because we cannot currently schedule in-person outings, we are posting a variety of virtual events and programs to our Houston Sierra Club Outings Meetup site:

The national Sierra Club outings team is currently assessing possible procedures that could be implemented that would allow the resumption of certain types of outings that could be conducted in a safe manner.  This will likely mean limited group size, mask wearing, and visiting destinations that allow appropriate physical distancing.

We ask for your extended patience. Sierra Club is being mindful of the safety of our participants, volunteers, partners, staff and the communities in which we recreate, and the importance of helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
