Water for People & the Environment Committee: August 11 Program, June 9 Recording

The next Water for People and the Environment Committee will take place virtually on Monday, August 11, on the topic of "Water and Data Centers in Texas"

The featured speaker will be Dr. Erin Kinney from the Houston Advanced Research Center. As Texas faces ongoing water scarcity, proposals for AI data centers across the state are raising important questions. How much water do these facilities actually use? Why is water needed to support digital infrastructure? And what are the trade-offs in a state already stretched thin on water supply? This webinar will focus on the water footprint of AI data centers: what is known, what is not, and what it means for communities, ecosystems, and the future of our water. To attend the August 11 meeting, register here.

Recording of the June 9 meeting on 'Fresh Water Inflows':

The June meeting of the Water for People and the Environment Committee featured guest speaker Dr. Audrey Douglas from the Center for Water Supply Studies at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, who shared her expertise on freshwater inflows into bays and estuaries. Dr. Douglas brought extensive experience in this field and is a co-author of the book Freshwater Inflows into Texas Bays and Estuaries: A Regional-scale Review, Synthesis, and Recommendations, available for free download.
