Sierra Club-Great Waters Group is Recruiting Youth Leaders

A group of young people at a march hold up signs that read "Youth Choose Climate Justice"The Sierra Club, the nation’s largest and most powerful volunteer-driven environmental organization, has announced its new slogan – Powerful Together – in an all-out effort to be a voice in ending the climate crisis.

We are looking to recruit and empower youth leaders who have a passion for the environment and the desire to lead on the issues. Sierra Club-Great Waters Group has a number of programs new leadership could work within. We are also open to your being a pioneer in underserved issues and areas. And we will train you in Sierra Club protocols and programs. The Sierra Club nationally, state-wide, and locally, is committed to eliminating gender, class, racial and ethnic divides in its leadership.

New leaders would participate in setting the agenda for Great Waters Group in the 4-County area of Washington, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Milwaukee, where the group has more than 4,000 members. State-wide, Sierra Club’s Wisconsin chapter has 18,000 members, making it one of the largest chapters in the U.S.

Ideal candidates would be current with tech and social media skills. Knowledge of Web design is a plus. Goals would include expanding the membership base, participating in actions, and organizing and participating in issue-based campaigns.

Become a voice for the environment in your community.
