Press Release: Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Will Finance Much Needed Climate Initiatives In Georgia

ATLANTA — This week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the awardees of $20 billion from the new Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which will provide financing to projects that will reduce carbon emissions.

In response, Sierra Club Georgia Chapter Director G Webber released the following statement:

"Today’s announcement is a prime example of the continued benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act. The awardees of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund will help finance clean energy projects, energy efficiency upgrades for families, electrification projects in rural parts of Georgia, and loans to small businesses. We are beyond excited that these direct investments will help our climate resiliency, and the fund’s focus on environmental justice will provide much needed support to communities of color and low-income and rural areas."
