The Sierra Club one of the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organizations -- with three million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to move away from the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate disruption and toward a clean energy economy.
It has been through the efforts of members and supporters that local Groups, like Kaskaskia, have more than 100 years of success in protecting the wild places of our planet and promoting responsible use of our ecosystems and natural resources.

Attend an Executive Committee Meeting
Executive Committee Meetings are open to all members. The committee meets monthly in person and via Zoom. We’re always looking for good folks to join the Excom in overseeing the Kaskaskia Group's strategic direction. Excom terms are for two years. Do you have a special interest or skill that would benefit the Kaskaskia Group? Local efforts include sending emails and making phone calls about local environmental and environmental justice issues, assisting with native habitat restoration and butterfly garden projects, youth education projects, and more. The Kaskaskia Group manages a pollinator garden at Stookey Township Park in Belleville and needs help with weeding and periodic maintenance. Fill out the Illinois Chapter's interest form here!
