Bryan Beckman for FL House District 58
The Suncoast Sierra Club proudly endorses Bryan Beckman for Florida House District 58.
Beckman understands the threats to our environment and the serious costs to our residents from the escalating costs of fuel, insurance and housing. He is all about affordability and solutions, like how he mapped the solar installations in Clearwater to show the progress being made. When elected to to the Florida State House, Beckman is determined to create incentives for solar powered homes, businesses and vehicles.
In addition, Beckman will stand up against special interests and unbridled development to protect and conserve our parks, our green spaces, and natural waterways. Over the past decade, his outstanding leadership skills as a volunteer for Sierra Club have proven he possesses a deep understanding of sustainability and resilience issues facing our communities. He is a strong supporter of inclusivity and demonstrates a hands-on dedication to partnerships with a vision for our future.
Sierra Club Endorses Jennifer Webb for Gulfport City Council
“We are excited to be endorsing Jennifer Webb in her campaign for District 3 for the Gulfport City Council,” said Sierra Club spokesperson Pat Fling. “This race is important to the Sierra Club because Gulfport is a small coastal community that suffered greatly during the last hurricanes. As a result, the tree canopy has been depleted, the city suffered heavy flooding, and there are still derelict boats in their waters, rotting and polluting. Gulfport could be a model city, and Jennifer as a strong environmental candidate could be highly effective in achieving this and bringing wise solutions to the situation. Ms. Webb is a committed Sierra Club member who can bring a strong environmental awareness to the city council.”
Caprice Edmond for Pinellas School Board
Caprice Edmond brought awareness to poor air quality and pollution in the Child’s Park Neighborhood based on her experiences as an educator at Fairmount Park Elementary. She maintained her advocacy upon being elected to the school board. This led to community discussions, campaigns, additional monitoring equipment and studies being completed.
As a School Board Member she championed student feedback in districtwide decisions which
lead to a committee being advertised and formed through Pinellas County Schools. Although,
short lived she continues to advocate and connect stakeholders to the appropriate staff
regarding recommendations and questions.
She continues to support sustainability and resiliency efforts within the district. Recommending more opportunities for recycling at district facilities, utilizing native plants for landscaping, supporting the electric bus grant, hands-on science education and more. These are the reasons why we are proud to endorse Caprice Edmond for Pinellas County School Board, District 7.
