Bios for 2025 Ballot

Chris Bolté: My name is Chris Bolté. I’m retired after 41 years in computer systems engineering.  I became interested in ecology after reading "Silent Spring" in high school. I enjoy hiking and biking, but not as far as I did when I was on active duty.

Martha Steele has been a Sierra Club member since 2016, and a member of the North Alabama Group's Executive Committee since 2023. The club is well known and has a strong national presence, but needs more active members in Alabama. To grow the club, we'll need to have hikes and other events where we can enjoy each other's company. Alabama has many natural wonders, yet we get little attention. Alabama should be at the forefront of the national level concerns with our current state issues. My other goal is to help our local club coordinate with other local conservation groups. Even with small numbers we can have more impact when working with other groups.

Julie West. I have lived in Alabama for 25 years. Our environment faces challenges that we all must be involved in to see any rewarding changes. Since a young girl I have been concerned with what God has given us to steward. In seeing the results of our negligence and misuse of our environment it is impacting everyone’s lives. Influencing our youth to become more engaged with the environment is a good start. It is their future and ours and we must teach them and others to be good stewards also. Protecting our waterways, land and animals is crucial and our continued effort to improve ours and their quality of life starts with our efforts.
