See a range of electric vehicles and speak to owners about how easy it can be to drive electric, save money and reduce pollution.  The Sierra Club is a national sponsor of this event.

Outings

Hike Ratings

Easy - Less than 5 miles, no serious elevation changes, no trail obstacles.

Moderate - 5 to 10 miles, some elevation changes or rough trail (rock hopping), or trail obstacles such as creek crossings.

Strenuous - Over 10 miles, substantial elevation change, rocky, obstructed or nonexistent trail.

Exploratory - any event where the leader has not experienced the event; may fit any class above.

Note. Participants of Sierra Club outings are required to sign a waiver.


Tuesday, September  4 - Monte Sano Evening Hike. Easy. 

Depart at 6:00pm sharp from the Monte Sano State Park Hikers’ parking lot on Nolen Avenue. There is a small fee to enter the park and all dogs must be on a leash while in the parking lot and during the hike. Though not strenuous, hikes may be vigorous and range from 3 to 5 miles. Saturday, September  8 - Monte Sano Hike. Moderate.

As Summer winds down, enjoy Huntsville’s jewel.  We will explore trails in the State Park, experiencing the beauty of the park in late summer.  Dress for the weather, including sturdy shoes.  Bring a camera, water, snacks and some cash for the park entrance.  Meet at the Hikers' Parking Lot at 8:30am. The hike will leave at 9:00am sharp.  Leashed dogs welcome.  Rain cancels this hike.  Questions, contact Patricia at pwales77@gmail.com

Saturday, September 15 - Western Monte Sano Hike. Moderate.

Meet at The Hikers' Parking lot 8:30 am.  We will hike down the Huntsville side of the mountain and back up again using various trails- Mountain Mist, Tollgate, Bluffline, High Trail, Cold Springs and the North Plateau Loop. The hike will be about 7 miles and rated moderate to strenuous depending upon your abilities. Bring water and a snack. For more info contact Steve at covecrawler@gmail.com

Saturday, September 29 - Cloudland Canyon Hike. Strenuous.

Beautiful hike along Sitton Gulch Creek where we will see two waterfalls and amazing canyon views.  This will be about a 9 mile hike with approximately 1000 foot elevation gain in Cloudland Canyon State Park in North West GA.  Dress for the weather, bring snacks/lunch, and a camera.  Dogs not recommended. We will meet at 9:00 am EASTERN TIME!!! (Georgia is on eastern time), at the Ingles Grocery Store in Trenton, GA - 300 S Main St, Trenton, GA 30752.
