Elections for the Sierra Club Finger Lakes Group Executive Committee are just around the corner! If you are a Sierra Club member and are in the Finger Lakes Group's area, here is your chance to become more active in supporting a clean and healthy environment. Your input will help our region, state, country, and world! NOW is the time to get involved, be active, and do what is important! Below is a recent email sent to the Finger Lakes Group membership detailing the way to get on the ballot, with pertinent deadlines. You have just until Monday October 20 to write and send in a candidate statement. We would love to have you join us!  Would you like to serve on the Sierra Club Finger Lakes Group (FLG) Executive Committee? As a Finger Lakes Group member, you can run for one of seven open positions on the Finger Lakes Group Executive Committee in our annual election this fall. The Finger Lakes Group represents over 1,200 members in eleven counties in the Finger Lakes region. All current Sierra Club members are eligible to run for the Group Executive Committee. Please help us preserve our local and global environment! See below for instructions and deadlines.    Fall 2025 Election Schedule Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 – Candidate statement must be emailed or postmarked by this date. Monday, October 7, 2025 – Candidates approved by the Nominating Committee. Candidates informed of their status.  Approved candidates posted to the FLG website. Monday, November 10, 2025 – Petitions from petition candidates* must be postmarked or emailed by this date. Saturday, November 15, 2025 – Online ballots emails sent out by Atlantic Chapter Monday, November 24, 2025 – Newsletter with ballots and candidate statements will be mailed/emailed. Vote by mailing in a ballot or casting electronically, following instructions in the newsletter. Monday, December 15, 2025 – Election closing. Ballots must be postmarked or cast electronically by this date. To be considered for nomination to the FLG Executive Committee, submit a candidate statement of 150 words or less, by the due date above,to the Nominating Committee via email at fl-group@newyork.sierraclub.org or mail to: Finger Lakes Group, P.O. Box 433, Watkins Glen, NY 14891.  *Petition Candidates: If not nominated, you may petition to be on the ballot by submitting the signatures of at least 30 group members.
