DC Government Needs to Meet Full Solar Potential

In an era of increasing electricity prices and impending changes to federal incentives for renewables, the District has an opportunity to reduce its electric bills by installing as much solar as possible on DC-owned property, including through nontraditional applications like canopies over parking lots, playgrounds, and trails, and building facade solar.

A new report from the Sierra Club finds that the District could save $28 million a year and cut 50,000 tons of CO₂ annually by maximizing the solar potential on DC government property.
