TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Angie Nixon in the 2026 election for U.S. Senate for Florida.
"Angie Nixon is the leader our state needs to fight for a healthier, cleaner, and more affordable future,” said Steve Wonderly, Sierra Club Florida Political Committee Chair. "We are confident that she will work to protect our environment and support a clean energy economy that lowers costs and creates new jobs here at home."
“With the threat of massive AI hyperscale data centers facing communities across Florida, Angie Nixon will fight to protect all Floridians from their impacts. She understands the dangers these facilities pose to our communities, including increased demands on our water and energy resources,” said Javier Estevez, Sierra Club Florida Political and Legislative Director. “As the Trump Administration continues to attack bedrock air and water protections, climate action, and the transition to clean energy, Sierra Club Florida is committed to electing environmental champions like Angie who will prioritize our communities and future.”
"I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club, a champion in the fight to protect our air, water, and wild spaces,” said Representative Angie Nixon. “For far too long, corporate polluters and utility monopolies have treated Florida like their personal playground, polluting our state and hiking up our bills, while using politicians like Ashley Moody to do their bidding. Clean air, safe drinking water, and a healthy environment are human rights. I will never stop fighting to hold corporate polluters accountable, protect our springs and coastlines, and ensure our beautiful state and its incredible residents aren’t stuck paying the price for corporate greed.”
Volunteers from among Sierra Club Florida’s more than 240,000 members and supporters will contact and mobilize voters on Rep. Nixon’s behalf and speak to the public about her exemplary environmental record. Sierra Club Florida looks forward to supporting Angie Nixon throughout the 2026 election and working toward a victory on Election Day.
