AUGUST 2026: FALL BIRDING AT PLANTATION PRESERVE

Join us for a morning of quality time outdoors, new friends, and hopefully some lifers as we bird the iconic Linear Trail at Plantation Preserve. Every year, tens of millions of birds fly south over Florida before they take on their daring flight over the Caribbean. Let's catch a glimpse into the wonderful world of birds by grabbing our binoculars, opening our ears, and waking up just a little earlier to spot our feathered friends on their journey!
We will meet at 8:00 AM at the Plantation Preserve Golf Club Parking lot at 7050 W Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33317. The trailhead is closer to the NE corner of the parking lot. It is a quiet, mostly shaded trail with plenty of spots to look for birds and multiple places to stop, sit, and rest (with eyes peeled for warblers). With that being said, we will be taking our time at a slow pace for the 1.5 mile out-and-back (3 miles round trip) trail. Let’s prepare to be out there for about 3 hours. Bring some water! There is none on the trail.
Since we plan on spotting as many birds as we can, bring binoculars and/or camera for the best experience. However, your naked eyes and a sharp ear can still yield a very successful birding outing. All that walking and staring can be exhausting, so another reminder to bring your water bottle and a light snack if you so please. It’s summer, so make sure you protect yourself with sun-protective clothing and comfortable shoes for all the walking and standing.
If you have questions or just looking for a little more information about the outing, you can contact me at Jaycaguilera03@gmail.com

Come join an evening of learning about Broward County's favorite marine reptilians, the sea turtles! Following a debriefing about sea turtles, their habitats, and threats they face, participants will take a nocturnal hike. During the walk, we will explain how & why nests are protected, about their incubation cycle and what commonly happens to the hatchlings on a densely urbanized beach like in Broward County. We’ll discuss hatchling disorientation due to artificial lights, why this occurs and what YOU can do to make a difference.
Please note, there is no promise or guarantee that you will see hatchlings. We will not visit or sit near nests that may hatch. Our goal is to educate and inspire you during your time to ensure a fulfilling experience. If you are fortunate enough to witness these amazing animals, it will be something that you will never forget. We must keep 50 ft away from any active nests or hatchlings.
We will meet at Pompano Beach's North Ocean Park: 3424 NE 16th St, Pompano Beach, FL 33062. Street parking only. PLEASE pay for 4 hours of parking to ensure we are having a fulfilling experience.
