Our Energy Committee is on a dual track.
Track 1: GRU/GRUA Our objective is to return GRU to local governance by taking back this community owned and operated utility that has been taken over by the State legislature. There is a distinct lack of transparency and accountability by the CEO Ed Bilearski & the GRU Governor appointed Authority. This local utility was slated to transition to solar, and now is on a fast track to dissolve into privatized utility control.
Track 2: Democratizing solar. We are exploring introducing Balcony Solar in our communities. This form of solar is relatively low cost, and available to both rental and homeowners, allowing them to cash in on available sun and reverse their consumption on the grid.
If you are interested in these topics, please be sure to join The Energy Committee in our discussions every other Monday generally on Zoom. See the SSJ Calendar for the next scheduled meeting.
