Volunteer Orientation — Get To Know Us & Get Plugged In!

  • Opportunity: Join this volunteer orientation to learn more about our organization, get connected with specific opportunities, and meet other volunteer leaders who engage meaningfully in climate justice volunteer work in their local communities.

Text Outreach

  • Role description: Help us send texts to our subscribing members and supporters for events and action opportunities! This opportunity involves spending ~10-20 min sending text messages out through the app Hustle and responding to people the following few days as they reply, giving them information about the event/action and answering questions. 
  • In-person or remote: Remote
  • Skills needed: Comfortability sending texts, using a phone & new apps
  • Training needed: Brief 1-hour training & practice with Sierra Club staff
  • Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month

Treasure Valley

City of Boise Earth Day Celebration: Setup, Tabling, Takedown, or Data Entry

  • Task: Volunteer to table, help with setup/takedown, or help with data entry for the Sierra Club at the City of Boise Earth Day celebration. We'll be collecting signatures on our community solar petition, as well as sign-ups for our Outings and volunteer opportunities. 
  • In-person or remote: In-person (tabling/setup/takedown), remote (data entry) 
  • Date/time: Sat, Apr 18th, 10am - 2pm (shifts throughout the day). 
  • Location: The Watershed
  • Training needed: Quick training with a staff member or lead volunteer if new, plus resources provided so you feel comfortable

Shade City Brewfest: Setup, Tabling, Takedown, or Data Entry

  • Task: Volunteer to table, help with setup/takedown, or help with data entry for the Sierra Club at the City of Shade City Brewfest. We'll be collecting signatures on our community solar petition, as well as sign-ups for our Outings and volunteer opportunities.

Moscow

Highway Cleanup

  • Task: We'll gather together at a highway cleanup spot, spend a couple of hours picking up trash together, and then reconvene at a local park to share a picnic lunch together. It'll be fun, and a great opportunity for some community-building mid-way through Earth Month!
