Celebrating Earth Day

An Earth Day April 22, 2026, Message for All

By Joyce Blumenshine

No matter how overwhelming the news is, we can be happy we live in Illinois. Even a short walk outside will help you feel the season is changing and you may see something that gives you joy along your way. Many environmentally minded folks like yourself, will help pass new legislation to move our state forward in protecting the critters of all sizes that we love, and the land, and water.

We have pending legislation to require notification to schools, daycares, and other services if aerial spraying of pesticides or other chemicals will be done. Our state has pending legislation to protect wetlands where the Federal government has absconded. You can find easy E-Comments to help with this and more pending issues at the Illinois Environmental Council. Please join with others to help causes that matter to you and for our families and the future.

Celebrate Earth Day by stopping by the Earth Day Festival at Forest Park Nature Center in Peoria Heights on April 18th.

Thank you for being a Sierra Club member! Yes, we can make a difference. There just is a lot of work to do and not much time to do it! Onward!
