An estimated 50 people gathered June 28th for the 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Prairie Rivers Network and Eco-Justice Collaborative workshop on the Future Energy Jobs Bill held at Illinois Central College, East Peoria. This state legislation will jump-start community solar and other solar, wind, and energy efficiency projects in 2018. Main parts of the bill are to include low-income neighborhoods and it includes provisions for job training. Speakers included a representative of the Delta Institute on planning for the future, a panel with experts on solar and other features of the bill, and break-out sessions to focus in more depth on aspects of funding, collaboration, and other topics. A follow-up session is being planned for August. Watch the HOI website for updates on this great opportunity!
