The Heart of Illinois Sierra Club is inviting volunteers to join our HOI Clean Water Team.

As a member of our volunteer water monitoring team, you will be monitoring water quality in our area waterways and advocating for the protection of our rivers, wetlands and groundwater. No prior experience is necessary, but you do need to complete a one-day training session. You can attend one of the free Water Monitoring Workshops hosted by the Sierra Club Illinois Clean Water Team (see registration links below).

Springfield IL - Saturday, August 2nd 9 am to 3 pm
Davenport IA - Saturday, August 16th 9 am to 3 pm

Learn how to correctly collect water samples from local waterways. Practice measuring key water quality parameters such as pH levels, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and nutrient concentrations using scientific instruments and testing kits. Explore strategies for monitoring, documenting, and reporting HAB occurrences to relevant authorities and organizations, and connect with fellow community members passionate about water conservation and protection.

Go to the links above to register for these workshops.  Contact Robert Rowe, 309 370-2572 or rowe@bradley.edu to learn more about our Clean Water Team.
