Outings & Meetings

As we gradually get the Blue Ridge Group active again we are starting to have meetings featuring guest speakers. At the start these will be held on the fourth Tuesday in odd-numbered months but we plan on getting to a point where we have them monthly if there is enough interest.

Hopefully by this summer we will start having outings. There are many wonderful sites in our six-county area and we want to help you all explore those areas. Information about these outings will be put on this site and on our Facebook page as we plan them.

We hope to see you all at either our meetings or our outings in the coming months.

Join us May 28 as we learn about rattlesnakes with John Sealy

Rattlesnake researcher John Sealy will present our May 28 program. John has been working with rattlesnakes for over 20 years. He has presented programs to staff at state parks and the Blue Ridge Parkway and has studied these magnificent animals throughout western North Carolina. John's presentation will cover the life history, distribution, and conservation status of the Timber Rattlesnake in western North Carolina. There will be discussion of the conservation projects underway in North Carolina as well as information regarding what to expect and how hikers should respond when they encounter rattlesnakes in the wild. Information about registering will be put out soon.
