On July 18, support the clear path to clean energy and jobs for the East Bay

This fall, Alameda County residents will start getting served up cleaner energy by the new locally run, non-profit electricity provider, East Bay Community Energy (EBCE). That alone is a major victory many years in the making. But we now have an unprecedented opportunity to shape EBCE into a powerful force for good with the adoption and implementation of a radically community-focused plan for EBCE’s future.

The Local Development Business Plan, as it is known, is "a comprehensive framework for accelerating the development of clean energy assets within Alameda County.” It lays out how EBCE can use its position in the community to foster local benefits, such as job creation and customer cost-savings.

The EBCE board will vote on adopting the Plan this Wednesday, July 18th and I hope you can join us there. We need your help in calling for the adoption and implementation of the Local Development Business Plan so that we can make economic, social, and environmental benefits a reality for the East Bay.

DATE: Wednesday, July 18

TIME: Rally & press conference at 5:00 PM; Board meeting at 6:00 PM

The Local Development Business Plan lays out a path forward for:

  • Developing local solar and wind energy;
  • Creating family-sustaining clean energy jobs and careers;
  • Reducing greenhouse gas pollution to fight climate change;
  • Involving the community in governance of the program;
  • Providing affordable and stable energy rates;
  • Incentivizing rooftop solar and reducing energy use;
  • Keeping and re-investing energy wealth in our community; and
  • Providing benefits to communities traditionally shut out of the local clean energy economy, including low-income communities, communities of color, and renters.

Please join us on Wednesday, July 18th if you want to help the East Bay come together around clean energy to build a stronger economy and healthier environment.
