Dragon’s blood trees, on the island of Socotra, have red resin that has been used since ancient times as a dye and a medicine.

Dragon’s blood trees are endemic to the island of Socotra, in the Indian Ocean. Their pointy leaves capture moisture from morning mists, and the shade of their dense crowns slows evaporation. Their “blood” is red resin, used since ancient times as a dye and a medicine.
