 Rescue Rantowles Creek

Trees and sunset colors

The flood is coming to West Ashley with the cause being poorly planned development, wetlands destruction, and concrete.

RESCUE RANTOWLES CREEK – THE MOVIE (45 minutes) premiered at Bulow Landing on October 15, 2021, at 7:30pm. A year-long documentary project by Benjamin Mack and Marsh Deane of MLNL Media, this film tells about the importance of Rantowles Creek to the Charleston community and the nation.
The historically significant waterway flows into the Stono River in Charleston County, and it sits in the crosshairs of suburban sprawl.  A dedicated group of environmental advocates and community leaders hope to stop the sprawl and help others recognize the place for its beauty and cultural heritage.
This area is unique and worth protecting as the place of first contact by Carolina colonists with the Edisto Natchez-Kusso Tribe and the site of origin for the largest uprising of enslaved people in the colonial history of North America.
