On January 16, 2026, the Houston Regional Group and Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club visited the Sam Houston National Forest to view the implementation of a wildlife habitat improvement project.

By Brandt Mannchen - On January 7, 2026, I visited Sam Houston National Forest to look at Red-cockaded Woodpecker Clusters, Peach Creek, the Lake Conroe Shoreline, and a forest with tall pines and oaks called, “Cathedral Oaks” forest.
