  • Conservation Science Division - The award-winning Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan -- for balancing the conservation of our cultural and natural resources (while maintaining an economically vigorous and fiscally responsible community). -- supports the biological goal of the SDCP --  ensure the long-term survival of the full spectrum of indigenous plants and animals -- and administration of the County's Multi-species Conservation Plan (MSCP).
    • Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan (SDCP) = considered the following elements: 
      • critical habitats and biological corridors,
      • riparian areas,
      • mountain parks,
      • historical and cultural preservation,
      • and ranch conservation.
  • Cultural Resources & Historic Preservation Division - Preserve ancestral Native American sites, historic Spanish Colonial, Mexican, and American sites, historic neighborhoods and buildings, and traditional cultural places, and working landscapes.
  • Sustainability Programs Division -  In 2007, the Board adopted "Sustainability Initiatives" and approved the Pima County "Sustainable Action Plan for County Operations"
  • The Water Resources Unit (WRU) --  a comprehensive approach for County use of surface water, groundwater, effluent and reclaimed water -- to address drought management, environmental enhancement, water conservation, water reuse and water asset management -- WRU evaluates water policy developments -- assisting with implementation of water resource management across County departments.
