Get Outdoors

Get Outdoors - Outings
Sierra Club Outings provides a variety of opportunities for people to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Venture out through our Chapter Outings to explore the world, take a day hike closer to home, or volunteer. Come join us on Hiking Trails, Kayaking, Camping and other outdoor activities as we explore, enjoy and protect Georgia’s natural wonders. We have local Groups in the Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, LaGrange, Cobb and Gwinnett areas, so we’re always hiking in the mountains, trekking the Appalachian Trail, enjoying the coast or exploring another of our unique environments!
If you have questions, please contact our Outings Chair, Sammy Padgett.

Atlanta Inspiring Connections Outdoors

Atlanta ICO
The Sierra Club's Inspiring Connections Outdoors Program provides safe and fun wilderness trips for people with limited access to the outdoors. Volunteer leaders collaborate with community partners to get outdoors with people -- especially youth -- who may not have access on their own to safely discover the wonders of the natural world. Established in 1988, Atlanta ICO seeks to serve youth in the greater Atlanta area by partnering with youth groups located in Atlanta and nearby cities.  It is our goal to help these young people discover the beauty of wild places, to foster an appreciation for nature, and to help them acquire the necessary skills to enjoy these places safely. Through active involvement with nature, the program increases participant's environmental awareness, interpersonal skills and self-esteem.
