Representing more than 400 Sierra Club members living in Lake County, California, Lake Group is the smallest of the six Groups in Redwood Chapter. We work to preserve our wild heritage, to protect and restore Clear Lake and its watershed, and to promote smart growth, sustainable practices, and environmentally friendly development.
At 7PM on Thursday January 21 Lake Group will offer a presentation focusing on cyanobacteria ("blue green algae") in Clear Lake. Since the fall of 2014 Big Valley Rancheria and Elem Indian Colony have have been conducting regular testing for cyanotoxins produced by the "algae" blooms that have plagued the lake annually since 2009. Environmental Directors Sarah Ryan and Karola Kennedy will present the results of the Tribes’ Cyanotoxin Monitoring Program and impacts on both recreational and drinking water uses in Clear Lake. The meeting will be held at the Round Room at Mendocino College, 2565 Parallel Dr in Lakeport. For more info, contact Chair Ed Robey at 994 8304 or email@example.com.
