Sierra Club to Host Presentation on Wildlife Rehabilitation
Anna Garcia Llewellyn to discuss her role as a licensed wildlife rehabilitator as part of Susquehanna Group’s monthly meeting
BROOME COUNTY, NY — On Tuesday, April 21st at 7pm, licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator Anna Garcia Llewellyn will give a presentation on wildlife rehabilitation in New York State at the Sierra Club Susquehanna Group’s monthly general membership meeting. In her talk, she will give an overview of how Wildlife Rehabilitators function in the state, what’s required of both them and rehabilitation facilities, and their work in conjunction with animal control officers, the Department of Environmental Conservation, and the public. She will also discuss ways the public can support this important work through volunteering, donation, advocacy, education, and encouraging safe protocols when handling wild animals.
Anna Garcia Llewellyn is a LVT and a NYS-licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator, as well as a dog control officer. A life-long Tioga County resident, she has been rehabbing for the last eight years helping to advocate, educate, rescue, rehabilitate and release native species. In her spare time she enjoys fishing, hiking, hunting, riding her dirt bike, and anything with dogs and horses.
On the third Tuesday of each month the Sierra Club Susquehanna Group hosts their general membership meeting that is free and open to the public. Meetings are held in person and via Zoom. The meeting begins with a brief update on club activities and moves into a guest presentation on various topics of environmental interest.
