Missouri Sierra Club Endorses Trudy Busch Valentine for U.S. Senate
Missouri’s Largest Grassroots Environmental Group Calls for the Support of Busch Valentine this November
St. Louis: Today, the Missouri Chapter of the Sierra Club announces its endorsement of Trudy Busch Valentine in the November 8, 2022 General Election.
"We are very pleased to announce today that the Missouri Sierra Club officially endorses Trudy Busch Valentine for United States Senate," said Chapter Director, Gretchen Waddell Barwick. “We are confident that she will work to protect Missouri’s environment, for our families and for our future.”
The Busch Valentine campaign calls for the drastic reduction of carbon emissions and the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. On her Missouri ranch, she proudly uses solar energy - modeling what she stands for. In St. Louis, Busch Valentine has served on the planning committee to organize the St. Louis Climate Summit - an effort to unite leaders in defense of the health and well-being of the planet. In contrast, her principal opponent, Attorney General Eric Schmitt, not only opposes setting national policy to confront climate change, but is actually attempting to halt states like California from adopting their own emissions standards.
“Missouri is facing unprecedented severe weather events such as floods, droughts, and extreme heat,” said Missouri Sierra Club Political Director, Michael Berg. “We need leadership to enact policies to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Who is in the United States Senate will make a huge impact on Missouri’s future. We firmly believe Trudy Busch Valentine is the right person for the job .”
