2026 General Election Results & Recap

A circular logo that says Sierra Club Endorsed

Last Update: Nov. 4 @ 4:25pm

November's general election was historic for progressive values and politicians! Across the country, climate champions won tough races and critical legislatures and governor’s offices flipped from red to blue.

Here in Oregon, Democrats added to their existing supermajority in the Senate and captured a record number of House seats. Tina Kotek secured another 4-year term as Governor and Eugene voters passed the Eugene Clean Energy Fund, which makes billion-dollar corporations pay for climate resiliency, energy efficiency, and green workforce development in the city, just to name a few.

A complete list of wins from Sierra Club Oregon endorsed candidates is below!

The next federal congress will include a class of historic firsts. Peggy Flannigan is the first indigenous woman elected to the U.S. Senate and Abdul El-Sayed will be the first Muslim to serve in the Senate. Chris Pappas will be the first openly gay U.S. Senator and Jaelynn Scott will be Washington state’s first trans state lawmaker — and the first out Black trans state lawmaker elected in the country. James Talarico wasn’t even alive the last time a Democrat represented Texas in the Senate.

While this election was a rebuke of Trump and the destruction caused by the GOP, elections alone won’t get us to a truly inclusive, multi-racial democracy. To institutionalize equity for all Americans we have to keep pushing on our electeds, institutions, communities, and each other. We’re in this fight for a thriving planet and people together and below are the Sierra Club Oregon endorsed candidates we're fighting with!

Local Measures

Deschutes, Redistricting Measure 9-185 FAILED!
This measure would switch Deschutes County from five at-large seats to a gerrymandered set of districts that would minimize the voices of all county residents. Voters should reject this measure by voting NO.

Eugene, Eugene Clean Energy Fund PASSED!
Through a fee on the profits of the largest, wealthiest businesses in Eugene, ECEF will fund community-driven climate programs. Voters should support this measure by voting YES.
