Lynda V. Mapes
Lynda V. Mapes was an environment reporter at The Seattle Times. Her work focused on nature, natural history, Native cultures and governments and Pacific Northwest environmental news. She has twice been part of reporting teams at The Times that won the Kavli Gold Award for science journalism, and was named a finalist for a team award for the Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting in 2025. A full-time daily newspaper reporter since 1985, Mapes worked at The Times for 27 years before retiring in 2025 to focus on writing books and long-form journalism. She lives in Seattle and serves on the board of the Northwest Science Writers Association.
