Sierra Club Regional Political Training - Houston, Texas

This is an election year like no other. It's time to do something different, and we need your response right away.
In previous years, the Sierra Club has held its political trainings in Washington, DC. This year, those trainings are spread out across the country so that more people - people like you - can participate.
Join Sierra Club political leaders from across Texas on June 11 for a one day political organizing training that will focus on how to take the Sierra Club's political program to the next level.

Introducing the Texas Water Conservation Scorecard

Although the rain and flooding are here now, the droughts of the past may come again.
See how Houston fares in the Scorecard.

Recent droughts have seared the memories of Texans deepening their appreciation for our most precious resource: water. As a result, hundreds of thousands of people across the Lone Star state are trying to conserve water. Homeowners are installing more efficient appliances and converting thirsty lawns into drought-tolerant native plantings even though the drought seems to have abated. Individuals and families are conserving water -- but what about their water utilities? Are Texas water providers leading the way when it comes to protecting our vital water resources? Soon, Texans will have answers to those questions. Thanks to the Texas Living Waters Project's Texas Water Conservation Scorecard, Texans will be able to see how their water providers stack up when it comes to saving water.

Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge Saves the Day

For the past two years I have scheduled a Houston Sierra Club outing for the Great Egret Ridge Trail in the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge (TRNWR). Normally, this would not be hard to do. The Houston Sierra Club helped flag out this 6 miles of trails and we have unofficially hiked the trail system several times.
