Nevada Rail Coalition seeks digital communications volunteer

By Anne Macquarie

Did you know that our car-and-truck-based transportation system is the biggest source of climate-disrupting emissions in the US, and a major source of air pollution, especially in low-income communities and communities of color?

If you do know all this - or if you didn’t but you’d like to learn more - you might be who the Nevada Rail Coalition is looking for.

The Toiyabe Chapter is a founding member of the Nevada Rail Coalition, a citizen-based initiative that brings together unions, environmental organizations, passenger/freight rail advocacy associations, social justice organizations, and community associations for the purpose of building an expanded, robust rail system in Nevada and neighboring states as the keystone of a low-carbon, environmentally sustainable and socially just transportation system.

NV Rail Coalition
The Nevada Rail Coalition is advocating the extension
of California’s Capitol Corridor passenger train service
over the mountains to Reno, to provide twice-daily
service between northern Nevada and the Bay Area.

Part of the Nevada Rail Coalition’s mission is outreach and communication about rail and public transit. Since we started in 2021, we have developed a website, social media accounts, a digital newsletter, and in-person presentations, but we have no one committed to maintaining the content we need to educate people in our region about the importance of rail and transit in the move to a low carbon future.

So we’re seeking a volunteer to help us regularly update the “What’s Happening” page of our website; post on our social media accounts, and generate inspiring and relevant content for a digital newsletter.
