Reno ICO is Recruiting Leaders and Volunteers!

Reno Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) provides outdoor adventures and experiences to youth and young adults in Reno and Northern Nevada. ICO promotes individual growth and facilitates transformative life experiences through snowshoeing, backpacking, hiking, rafting and other activities, focusing on environmental and outdoor skills education and leadership development. We have now led three trips for high school students from Reno and Sparks!

Reno ICO will be holding our first Retreat and Outdoor Leadership Training over the weekend of June 2-4 at the beautiful and historic Sierra Club Clair Tappan Lodge. This is an opportunity to engage in the Sierra Club’s Outdoor Leadership Training with a focus on getting young people outside. Learn how to facilitate safe and engaging youth backpacking and snowshoeing adventures as we hang out, eat, play, hike, and sing around the campfire, and even go snowshoeing or hiking!

Food, lodging, training and fun are free! (Donations are encouraged.) All participants are expected to attend two ICO trips in 2023.

If you think you have read this article before, you are not crazy! This is actually our first retreat! We had to cancel our September retreat because of the Mosquito Fire and our March retreat because of overwhelming snow at Clair Tappaan! But we shall not be deterred! Come and join us this spring!

We now have a storeroom with over 1,000 pieces of outdoor equipment and clothing. Here are the 79 pairs of waterproof hiking boots and a few of our snowshoes that participants use. Now we need you to become part of the ICO family to help us get young people outdoors!
