Former Nevada Assemblymember Sarah Peters has been selected as the chapter’s new volunteer chair, following the departure of Vinny Spotleson, who stepped down from the role to pursue elected office.
Peters brings a career rooted in environmental policy, engineering, and public service, along with a deep commitment to protecting Nevada’s public lands. As volunteer chair, she will help guide the chapter’s strategic direction, strengthen its response to emerging environmental threats, and expand multigenerational outreach across the state.
“I’m honored to step into this role at a critical moment for Nevada’s lands, water, and communities,” said Peters. “I bring a career rooted in environmental policy, engineering, and public service, with a deep commitment to protecting public lands. As chair, I look forward to strengthening the chapter’s response to emerging threats while expanding multigenerational outreach through trusted, on-the-ground relationships with people who live, work, and recreate on these lands.”
Peters earned a Bachelor of Science in environmental engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, and later worked as a project manager. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Project Manager for a small environmental engineering firm. She previously served in the Nevada Assembly, where she focused on environmental protection, infrastructure, and community-centered policy solutions.
