Sierra Club members are invited to attend several events in March and April sponsored by Wisconsin Friends of John Muir. For time and location details, see the Outings/Events Calendar.

  • Learn about the value of native plants in your yard. Watch a video presentation by Dr. Doug Tallamy, professor of entomology and wildlife education at the University of Delaware and author of “Bringing Nature Home.” The beneficial interrelationship of plants, birds, and insects will be explored and effective use of small yard spaces discussed. Thursday, March 3 in Montello, Wis.  
  • Help with invasive plant removal the morning of Saturday, March 19 at John Muir County Park in Marquette County, then attend the Wisconsin Friends of John Muir Annual Meeting in the afternoon in Montello.  
  • Celebrate John Muir’s Birthday Party and Earth Day at John Muir Park County Park on Saturday, April 16. Help clean up the park in the morning and enjoy some birthday cake at noon. 
  • Learn about the life cycle and needs of the Monarch butterfly the evening of Thursday, April 21 at UW Extension in Montello. Mark Martin will share information about this much-loved butterfly and the Monarch banding program at Goose Pond in Arlington, Wis.
