Public Hearing: No Discounts for Data Centers

Why is this a big deal? The Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC) is currently considering two cases that would decide who pays the bill for data centers in Wisconsin. It's time to make sure that hardworking Wisconsinites don’t end up paying higher energy bills to give discounts to some of the richest companies on the planet. Utilities and tech companies are looking to profit from the AI boom by taking advantage of hyperscale data centers.

These cases will set the precedent for who pays for the electricity, fuel, and energy infrastructure for hyperscale data centers. Make sure your concerns and your community are heard.

We need No Discounts for Data Centers:

  • Makes data centers pay for all of their costs.
  • Is mandatory for all large (20 megawatts or more) data center customers.
  • Protects us for the full lifetime of the infrastructure.
  • Prioritizes new clean energy to avoid risky gas prices and eases access to clean energy resources, including behind-the-meter generation and storage and wind resources from other areas.
  • Includes a community benefits agreement or an energy impact fund.
  • Has strong tracking and assessment mechanisms in place.
