OUTRAGEOUS: FERC Will Force Higher Electricity Rates to Prop Up Dirty Energy in Illinois

December 2019

Trump appointees want to raise your ratesOn December 19th, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) under Trump ruled to raise electricity prices in Northern Illinois, and direct that money to fossil fuel corporations. This federal decision will prop up coal-fired power plants in our state through increased electricity rates. It will severely impact the progress made across Illinois on expanding clean energy and energy efficiency.

We need to pass the Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA) to reclaim our clean energy future from this FERC decision. CEJA will give Illinois more control over our own electric energy market rates and allow our state to move forward with clean energy and energy efficiency. We need to start efforts now to pass CEJA to support a clean, renewable energy future for Illinois.

WHAT TO DO:

  1. Call Gov. Pritzker. The Governor has the power to make sure this ruling doesn't impact Illinois consumers. Call his office to let him know that you're concerned about Trump's fossil fuel bailout, and you want him to pass the Clean Energy Jobs Act to protect Illinois Consumers. Dial: 1-415-367-3168.
  2. Send a message to your legislators and the Governor. You can do that here.
  3. Share on social media. You can share the Chapter's post about it here.

Thank You for taking action!
